This week in the office:
Hired a couple of dudes, welcome Chris & Cody.
Laser cut a stencil for my skateboard while I was having the dust collector for the CNC installed.
Getting the cloud organized for the work that is about to begin.
Got started on the new Berrics building we are designing.
Trying to decide if buying a 1970’s RV and having a mobile office is a good idea or a bad idea. Either way, need a bigger/better workspace.
Stay tuned….

The Chad Ochocinco of the Design World

Okay, so I am indecisive when it comes to an identity for my design firm. It was Somewhere Something for a year, then for reasons I can’t remember, I decided to be The Office of Jason F King. Long story short, I am Somewhere Something again. So, be patient while I (re)migrate all the web stuff back to this url. And fill out DBA applications etc. Oh yeah, and try to get some actual work done.

Meantime, I will just use this Tumblr…

Is the recession over?

My Alma mater, Woodbury University (with many thanks to Barbara Bestor [and a few thanks to Norman Millar]) is paying for the materials for the bar for the City Listening II project. That’s good, because I really didn’t want the $ to come out of my pocket. Thank you.

The grant from the Annenberg Foundation / explore.org will be in soon. At that point I will show you some images of the project.

I will be back in Atlanta soon to do CA on the project that we are building there. Hopefully, I will see more than a Marriott hotel room and a mall basement this time.

To answer the question posited in the title: No. I was offered a ridiculously low sum last week to do a full-service project. The contractor told her, “that’s what you should pay an architect.” I didn’t retort with the comeback that my brain came up with, because I am a gentleman.
